Is Your Body In Threat Mode?
All parts should move.
If everything you do is in a state of threat, then you will create restrictive guarded move patterns and your tissue will become hard and inflexible resulting in inflammation and possible injury depending on the environment that you work or live in.
Threat flavors everything you do. It causes you to hold your breath a thousand times a day, increasing tension in your diaphragm and mid-torso, causing you to move as if you have the emergency brakes on.
All joints need motion.
Motion is how nutrients come into the joint complexes and how waste products are eliminated. If you cannot control an area, you are losing out on the ability to take care of that joint complex. You should be able to have conscious control of all your parts. You can ignore them for a while, but at some point there will be a price to pay, often resembling degeneration.
All movement should have the following qualities:
Be gentle inside your head when you move. Do not move in anger or intensity for recovery.
0 – 10 scale. Operate at a level 3. 0 = Nothing. 10 = Pass out and Puke.
No holding of breath, or clenching of jaw. Let’s not program stress ever.
Move Slow and Gentle. An easy floating quality in your motion.
See it, then feel it. Touching/Tapping body parts give tactile sensitivity.
Recovery is more important than perfection. Small improvements are easier and less threatening and more than you had before.
Easy Motion is lotion. Hard Motion is trauma.
Your motion should have a fluid and gentle quality when you begin.
Change how you manage pain, improve your mobility, and get back to doing what you love.
